Clients, designers and other stakeholders are increasingly demanding higher standards in quality, safety and sustainability for construction products and services. British Precast, the trade body for the UK concrete products industry (of which Redland is a Federation Member), is responding positively to market demand by introducing the British Precast Charter Membership scheme. This requires all full members to sign up to the two Charter scheme components: the Concrete Targets 2015 Health and Safety scheme by August 2010 and the Sustainability Charter scheme by May 2011.
By becoming a charter member, we are committed to meeting and complying with 14 separate sustainability target indicators, for example reducing our kWh/tonne energy usage and carbon emissions, increasing the amount of recycled material in our products, and reducing the quantity of mains water consumption in our day to day operations. A full list of targets and further details of the charter can be found at www.bpcfcharter.com or by clicking on the image.
