Solar PV Tile Product View

roof integrated solar pv tiles

Harnessing solar energy is one of the most attractive and sustainable means of generating zero carbon, renewable energy for use in buildings.

Our second generation Photovoltaic (PV) Tile systems have been designed for performance, ease of installation and to blend in with the built environment to minimise the aesthetic impact on the building. They thus offer significant benefits in all three areas over "above the roof" panel systems, where poor installation can compromise the roof structure.

A pitched roof is the ideal surface for solar energy collection for heat and electricity generation since the radiation from the sun is greater than on a flat surface. Even in the UK, and even in winter, our PV systems continue to harness solar energy. Of course, the brighter the sunlight, the higher the output, but our PV systems also work well in normal daylight and even cloudy conditions.

Our solar energy systems are a technical tour de force: innovative and very reliable. But not only that: their aesthetic appeal is just as important. The systems are fully integrated and blend into the roof surface beautifully. They can also be expanded easily at a later date giving you maximum flexibility and minimum inconvenience.

The Code for Sustainable Homes

Code for Sustainable Homes

The Code is the national standard for the sustainable design and construction of new homes. Using a one to six Code Level rating system to communicate the overall sustainability of a new home, the Code sets minimum standards of energy use at each level.

Renewable energy systems, such as Redland Solar PV, count significantly towards the Sustainable Homes point score. From Code Level 3 upwards their use is increasingly important and Code Level 6 can only be achieved using on-site means of generating renewable electricity for the home. Redland Solar PV can meet these demands. Click here or on the image to go to the Code for Sustainable Homes page on the Communities & Local Government website.

Feed-In Tariffs

Introduced in April 2010, the GB Feed-in-Tariffs (FIT) reward those who generate their own low carbon electricity.

PV microgenerators benefit from a fixed rate payment for each unit of electricity generated (kWh), called the FIT Generation Tariff. In addition, the energy generated can be used for free and that which isn't used can be sold to their electricity supplier for a minimum guaranteed rate: FIT Export Tariff.

Both Tariffs are guaranteed for 25 years from the date the Solar PV system is first registered. Both are linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) and FIT income for domestic properties is not liable for income tax. From April 2012, FIT will be subject to an annual degression rate of 7% as the technology becomes cheaper.

Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)

To qualify for a Feed-in-Tariff, both the PV system and the installer must be MCS certified. Anticipating advances in industry certification, Redland Solar PV has undergone rigorous performance testing for dynamic wind loading, deluge and driving rain conditions and spread of fire resistance and has been awarded Certificate No: MCS BBA 0019.
