Slate Day

Purpose
To provide delegates with 'hands-on' practical experience of fixing SSQ Natural Slates and Redland Cambrian Slates. Greater understanding of both products leading to increased sales within their dedicated sectors.

Who Should Attend
Any Redland Account-holding customers who have dealings with or wish to broaden their knowledge of slates. Previous attendance of the Basic Principles of Pitched Roofing Course is advisable.

Number of Delegates
Six minimum, eight maximum

Duration
One day

Timings
The day starts at 9.00 am and concludes at approximately 16.15 pm. Tea. coffee and buffet lunch provided.

Dress Code
Delegates should wear comfortable working clothes and their own safety boots if possible. Safety boots are available for loan for the duration of the course.

Accommodation
One night at a local hotel if required, at inclusive negotiated rates if required. All rooms have private facilities.

  • Basic principles of roof slating
  • Natural slating and products in the sector
  • Development of Cambrian Slate and fittings


Practical Fixing of:

  • Eaves ventilation
  • Felt and battens
  • Natural slates - sorting, holing, sizing
  • Cambrian Slates
  • DryVent Ridge and Rapid Ridge
  • Ambi-Dry Verge
  • Nails and clips
  • Slate Vents


Demonstration of:

  • Cambrian GRP Valley
  • Cambrian Mitred Hip
  • Cambrian Dry Hip
  • Fibre Cement slates and copper disc rivets
  • Slate repair
